My friend Justin Busbridge is working at Scott Base, the New Zealand Antactic Station. He came across this amazing Antarctic story and made the video. His movie was a prize winner at WIFFA, the Antarctic Film Festival! (Yes, there is). Congratulations, Buz! He and I composed the tune together, sending it backwards and forwards with improvements, me in Australia and him at Scott Base, I recorded it on our suitably rickety, old, slightly out of tune piano and sent it to him. He taught himself to play it on cello and pipes. And here we are….
Whare Flat Folk Festival, near Dunedin, NZ, January 2026. The festival orchestra met for a couple of hourse each day and then performed at the farewell concert. Here we all are performing Let Me Die In My Footsteps, a little known Dylan song from 1961.
At Whare Flat we met Yujing Cui, a fantastic pipa player who now lives in New Zealand. Here she is joining the festival orchestra in Judy’s tune See You On The Other Side, a memorial to the great musicians and friends we have lost in the last few years.
